Fashion Shoot Tips - PT 2

Updated: May 2, 2022

During a shoot I jumped in-front on the backdrop and took some photos of myself - and then I combined my elite modelling skills to come up with some useful tips!

1. Models tend to chin-up a lot 🤔

This is something you hear from photographers even when taking a VISA photograph.

This is can be very common. As a chiseled jawline is very aesthetically pleasing. And this is something we tend to achieve in photos and videos as well, cuz no one likes unintentional double chins.

Don't be this guy 👆🏽 The photographer/ videographer will keep in mind to get the best out of you (model).

2. Try not to over-pose 💃🏻

The stylist I work with the most @l_dempsey prefers 'less posey' poses. It gives a more human feel and your potential customers can imagine themselves in those pieces.

*a lot of male poses could end up looking like a Hameedia billboard* 🏃🏻💨

3. Keep a clothes steamer on-set ♨️

You might've brought ironed clothes on to the set but what if.... you drop the clothes 🙂 Yeahhh no, it's gonna be an editing nightmare - specially for a video, because a photo can be edited to remove some creases off a crumpled dress but no chance on video!

4. Use models heights to your advantage

Working with 2-3 models can create a height imbalance, use it to communicate that your pieces don't fit just one mold. 💌

5. Visual communication using lighting ✨

The last 4 photos of this post has a different light setup than this. Look at the shadow in this photo. Choice of your light setup affects the mood you are trying to communicate, so have a good chat with your content providers, in detail! 📝

Bonus Tip - HAVE FUN!

Shoots can get hectic, and I am grateful that I get to work with people who got my back. We all work towards the same goal - making content look sick af, and also, delivering impact.
